ISLAMABAD: A number of power projects are nearing completion and 13000 MW of electricity would be added to the national grid by 2017.
Sources in the Ministry of Water and Power said that as a consequence the country would get rid of load-shedding by the end of 2017 or early 2018.
They said the country is presently facing an electricity shortfall of 5,000 MW.
The sources said Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif considers energy crisis as the most important problem being faced by the country and has vowed to resolve the same on war footings.
They said energy projects of 24,000 MW were currently under process.
