ISLAMABAD: Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal has categorically stated that the China Pakistan Economic Corridor route agreed in All Parties Conference on 28th May this year is being implemented in letter and spirit.
He was winding up discussion in Senate on an adjournment motion moved by Taj Haider and others regarding conclusion of Senate Special Committee on China-Pakistan Economic Corridor that consensus developed in All Parties Conference on 28th May this year on the route of the CPEC is being violated by the concerned government departments.
The Minister said there is absolutely no change in the route of the corridor.
The Minister said doubts about the implementation of project are due to unawareness. He said CPEC is not the name of a road or a route. It is a comprehensive concept and framework of development.
He said under the CPEC the work is going on in four departments including development of Gwadar port, energy projects, infrastructure development and industrial development.
He said Gwadar-Quetta road will be completed by December next.
He said joint parliamentary committee and the Senate committee on CPEC are visiting the route of corridor next month.
Ahsan Iqbal said out of forty six billion dollars Chinese investment, thirty eight billion dollars will be invested on energy projects.
