MULTAN: Petroleum Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi says the import of Liquefied Natural Gas would help to overcome gas shortage and power crisis in the country.

Talking to newsmen in Multan after inauguration of first Regasified Liquefied Natural Gas plant, he said LNG would be supplied to the power plants, which had been shut down because of fuel problems.

The Minister said that import of LNG from Qatar at lowest rates is a great success, which will help to increase the export volume and strengthen country’s economy.

He said that 400 million cubic feet gas had been added to the system this year and government is planning to increase it to 1500 million cubic feet in 2017.
