LNG terminal setup in record short time: Petroleum Minister

ISLAMABAD: Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources Shahid Khaqan Abbasi says availability of the cheapest liquefied natural gas will be ensured in the country.


Talking to newsmen in Islamabad on Thursday evening, he said LNG terminal has been setup in a record short time following a transparent procedure. He said ten cargo ships of LNG have arrived in Pakistan, and this number will reach to thirty in a year.

The Minister said LNG is being used in fertilizer and power sectors. He said affordable electricity can also be generated through LNG.

Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said oil mafia wants to create hurdles in LNG import.

He hoped that LNG price will be finalized this month. He said LNG is the best source to overcome gas shortage in the country.
