Load shedding increases as power shortfall reaches to 7,750 MW

LAHORE: Urban areas are facing power cut of nine hours while the rural areas have hit by 11 hours electricity outage as the shortfall exceeds 7,750 MW in the country .


According to National Transmission and Despatch Company (NTDC) sources, the electricity demand is 15,600 MW whereas the production is 10550 MW.

Sources say that electricity demand is gradually increasing due to dry and hot weather whereas water outflow has not grown in big dams as a result of which hydroelectric production is not being raised.

Moreover, a technical fault has also been witnessed in the working of hydroelectric sources and a continuous breakdown of transformers has also been noted from several days.
