KARACHI: The Milk Retailers Association in Karachi caved in to the pressure after beginning of raids and arrests and decided to sell milk on old rates.
According to details, a meeting of milk retailers presided over by Commissioner Karachi Shoaib Siddiqui took place in Karachi in which the milk prices were reviewed.
Following negotiations, the milk retailers have agreed to sell on the previous rates. The Commissioner Karachi said that the decision of price increase has been withdrawn and that action including raids and arrests will be taken against the offending vendors.
Earlier, at least 10 persons were arrested for charging excessive prices in various areas and a fine of Rs 50,000 each was imposed on them.
The sale of milk on old prices has been made possible after success of negotiations. This has made possible some relief for the citizens.
