Pak-Thai trade volume may increase to $16 billion: Dastgir

ISLAMABAD: Federal Commerce Minister Khurram Dastgir has said that the trade volume between Pakistan and Thailand will be increased to $16 billion due to the free trade agreement (FTA), signed between the two countries.

The minister, expressing his satisfaction over the agreement, said that the increase in trade volume was estimated through neutral research.

Dastgir added that at least 684 local items have competitive advantage in Thailand, adding that the items would increase the trade revenue up to Rs7 billion.

Dastgir said that the export of local textiles would also increase, adding that the quality import of fisheries would enhance the range of items available for local consumption. The FTA will make space for local products in the Thai market, he added.

The minister said that advanced technology would be imported for the benefit of local fishermen in Balochistan and Sindh.
