Pakistan envisages nuclear power generation capacity of 40,000 MW: PAEC

ISLAMABAD: Chairman Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission, Muhammad Naeem has said Pakistan envisages nuclear power generation capacity of 40,000 MW under its Nuclear Energy Vision-2050.


Addressing the 59th IAEA General Conference at Vienna in Austria, he said that PAEC has chalked out a plan to generate 8000 MW electricity through nuclear means that will help overcoming the energy crises in the country.

The Chairman PAEC is also making important contributions to the socio-economic sector of the country by bringing home the fruits of peaceful applications of nuclear technology for the masses.

He said that Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission was currently providing a vital service to the nation through its eighteen oncology medical hospitals where about eighty percent cancer patients of the country were being treated each year.

He said the PAEC plans to further expand its services to the public by setting up more nuclear medical centres.
