ISLAMABAD: President Mamnoon Hussain has said there is need to enhance defence production capabilities for economic stability of the country.
He was addressing a seminar on public-private partnership in production and export of defence equipments in Islamabad today.
He said public-private partnership in defense production will usher in new era in the progress of this industry.
Mamnoon Hussain said Pakistan is producing state of the art defense products and it has also exported these to some friendly countries.
The President said there is a need to adopt better marketing policy for enhancing export of defence production.
He said that the country has yet not been able to exploit its true potential in defense related exports due to weak marketing, law and order situation and problems being faced by this region.
Mamnoon Hussain said defense industry could be further strengthened and its exports be enhanced by engaging the private sector in an effective manner. He said the Government should encourage private sector for this purpose.
He expressed the hope that participants of the seminar will present effective proposals for public private partnership and export of defence products exports.
In his speech, Minister for Defence Production Rana Tanveer Hussain said Pakistan has achieved many successes in defence production.
He said foreign investment is needed for the expansion of this sector. He said Pakistan Aeronautical Complex is manufacturing JF-17 thunder with the cooperation of China.
