Poultry association fined for overpricing chicken

LAHORE: Competition Commission of Pakistan (CCP) imposed Rs 10 million fine on Pakistan Poultry Association (PPA) on Wednesday as the latter PPA had made ‘illegal’ publication on newspapers with regard to increased poultry prices.

CCP once again imposed a fine of Rs 10 million to PPA. According to CCP, PPA has been fined for the publication of increased rates for un-butchered chicken, meat and eggs.

CCP stated that it is against the rules of the authority and undermines the concept free market.

Earlier in 2010, CCP had fined Rs 5 million to PPA.
