SECP amends regulations to provide clarity

ISLAMABAD: The Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) in consultation with the Central Depository Company (CDC) and other participants has proposed amendments to the Central Depositories (Licensing and Operations) Regulations 2016.


A statement issued by the commission here on Thursday said the motion was proposed in order to promote good corporate governance and enhance public confidence.

The proposed amendments have been made available online to obtain public comments by Aug 24. The new regulations aim to provide an efficient appointment process for independent directors and are meant to clarify the responsibilities of the chief compliance officer.
