Traders announce countrywide strike on Aug 1

ISLAMABAD: All Pakistan Tajir Itehad announced to observe countrywide strike on August 1 as the federal government Monday rejected the traders’ demand of abolishing withholding tax on bank transactions.

A delegation of the All Pakistan Tajir Itehad held a meeting with federal finance minister Ishaq Dar and FBR officials at FBR office.

The traders asked the government abolish withholding tax on all bank transactions.

However, the federal minister rejected the traders demand for completely abolishing the withholding tax.

Talking to newsmen after the meeting, the traders announced to observe countrywide strike against withholding tax on August 1.

They said that the no more talks would be held with the government on this issue.
