Urea sales drop 70 percent as farmers eye economical prices

LAHORE: Farmers have delayed purchase of urea fertilizers in hope of revision of prices leading to at least 70 percent drop in sales in October.

Statistics show that urea sales stood at 1.2 lac ton in the last month. Industry sources said that the fertilizers stock is increasing in the factories due to the postponement.

Earlier in the past month, urea production companies had assured the government of cutting down prices for farmers if gas tariff is revised in their favour.

However, the prices remain the same despite the apparent workable proposal by the manufacturers.
