After Akshay Kumar arrived in London, United Kingdom Wednesday, he was detained by the Heathrow Airport officials. The superstar’s passport was missing a visa stamp.

He was held up at a general seating area for regular passengers from 7 a.m. to 8.45 a.m. (BST — British Summer Time), Indian media reported.

A source added that the actor created a fair amount of frenzy with fans clicking his photographs, after which he requested for an area more private. However, his request was turned down by the airport officials.

However, Akshay rubbished the news saying he was out of the airport in no time and was travelling on a valid visa.

He is in London for a 15-day shoot for “Rustom,” in which he plays a naval officer. Directed by Tinu Suresh Desai, the thriller-drama also stars Esha Gupta and Illeana D’Cruz. The film is loosely-based on the infamous 1951 Nanavati case, which follows the story of K. M. Nanavati who pumped three bullets into his wife’s lover.

Since the story is set in the 1950s, Akshay will be seen sporting cardigans and flared pants. Costume designer Ameira Punvani’s worked on his look for the film for three months. “It reflects the flared pants, charcoal ties and cardigans of the era. He will also use prosthetics for his role,” a source told the publication.

Scheduled for an Aug. 16 release, “Rustom” may clash with Hrithik Roshan’s “Mohenjo Daro.” Also Aamir Khan reportedly has shown interest in releasing his film “Dangal” on the same date.
