Benicio Del Toro confirms role in ‘Star Wars Episode VIII’

LOS ANGELES: ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ star Benicio Del Toro seems to have confirmed that he will appear as a villain in “Star Wars Episode VIII”.

In a recent interview, Del Toro talked about the possibility of appearing in the sequel to “Star Wars: The Force Awakens”.

Del Toro, 48, was asked about his upcoming work schedule. The actor then said that he would be soon working on “Episode VIII” and added information about when the principal photography would commence.

‘Star Wars’ is coming up, we will see how that turns out. I think we start shooting in March,” said Del Toro.

The reporter followed up by asking what his role would be, but Del Toro only gave few details about it. “Ehhh, the thing is, they don’t let me talk too much about it. I’m like the villain. But we’ll see,” he said.

Back in July, Del Toro was reportedly eyed by Lucasfilm and Disney to fill a villainous role.

There have also been rumours about various actresses who are in a contention to be the female lead in “Episode VIII”.

Among them are “Orphan Black” star Tatiana Maslany, Gina Rodriguez and Olivia Cooke.
