KARACHI: Birth Anniversary of renowned singer Noor Jehan is being observed today.
She was known as one of the greatest singers of her time in the subcontinent and was given the honorific title of Malika-e-Tarannum.
In her singing career spanning over seven decades, she recorded about 10,000 songs in various languages of India and Pakistan including Urdu, Hindi, Punjabi and Sindhi.
Noor Jehan was awarded the Pakistan Presidential Award in 1965 for singing patriotic songs during 1965 India-Pakistan war.
She died of heart failure on 23 December 2000.
