MUMBAI: Pakistani ghazal-masetro Ghulam Ali’s concert due to be held in Mumbai on January 29 has been called off after threats from Indian extremist group Shiv Sena.
According to Indian media, the owner of the venue where the concert was to be organized said his space will not be available on Friday and any future dates for Ghulam Ali’s event.
Organizer Suhaib Ilyasi said the venue-owner made the decision after receiving threats from Shiv Sena.
Suhaib Ilyasi is also the director of Ghulam Ali’s debut Bollywood movie ‘Ghar Wapsi’. Ghulam Ali has also lent his vocals to the film’s soundtrack.
The ghazal legend’s concert was also canceled in Mumbai last year after Shiv Sena’s threats of protest.
