AURANGABAD: A small-time Marathi actress was allegedly gang-raped in Paithan, Maharashtra by five men. Police claim to have arrested one person in connection with the rape, which was carried out at Paithan tehsil in Aurangabad.
The actress hailed from suburban Maharashtra, was in Paithan to shoot for an upcoming Marathi film titled Lahanpan.
According to Aurangabad Local Crime Branch (Rural) Inspector Kanchan Kumar Chate, the actress had been in Aurangabad since the last two months and was in Aurangabad to collect her remuneration.
On Sunday when the 21 year-old actress demanded her fee from the director’s friend, the man took her to Paithan, 56 kilometers away from Aurangabad and raped her along with four other men.
The woman filed a complaint that a local director by the name of Anand Maghade had asked a friend of his by the name of Govind Chitlange to arrange for an actress for him.
Police then revealed that Chitlange arranged for the actress, who shot for the film for two months in Ambad village of the district. The actress, however, was not paid.
When the actress had called Chitlange for her remuneration, he had called her to Paithan where he allegedly raped her with four other men.
Police also revealed that investigations were ongoing as the case had been handed over to the Paithan police.
Chitlange was the accused who had been apprehended by the police, whereas four others were still at large.
