Kangana Ranaut joins Shahid Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan for ‘Rangoon’

MUMBAI: Vishal Bharadwaj’s ‘Haider’ won almost all the awards this year and looks like the filmmaker is readying to name yet another to his credit.

After signing up two of his most favourite actors Shahid Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan for his next, Vishal Bharadwaj has signed up the ‘Queen’ herself.

Fresh from the overwhelming success of ‘Tanu Weds Manu Returns’, Kangana Ranaut will now join Bharadwaj’s next titled ‘Rangoon’.

The director’s assistant director Gillani Shahrukh took to Twitter to share his excitement and in the process, managed to divulge exclusive details about the project.

Vishal Bharadwaj has confirmed the news and said, “It’s my most expensive film to date and will be my most musical.”

Talking about the subject, Bharadwaj explained how it will be an eye-opener on a chapter of history that many people are completely unaware of.

“If you visit a cemetery in Imphal, Manipur, you will see the graves of so many young soldiers who lost their lives in the Second World War.

And the dark irony is that Indians were killing Indians because some of these soldiers fought for the British army against Subhash Chandra Bose’s Indian National Army in Rangoon,” he said.

Shahid Kapoor has recently wrapped up work on Vikas Bahl’s ‘Shaandaar’ and Abhishek Chaubey’s ‘Udta Punjab’. Alia Bhatt co-stars in both movies. ‘Udta Punjab’ also features Kareena Kapoor and reports say that the two don’t share screen space in the movie.

The actor is going to tie the knot with Delhi-based Mira Rajput on June 10, after which he is supposed to start shooting for ‘Farzi’ and ‘Magadheera’ remake. It’s only after these movies that Bharadwaj’s venture will take off.

Saif will soon start work on Sujoy Ghosh’s Bollywood adaptation of the Japanese thriller ‘The Devotion of Suspect X’, co-starring Kangana.
