MUMBAI: There won’t be a clash on 22nd May after all. Though, till about a week back, it had seemed that Welcome 2 Karachi and Tanu Weds Manu would be arriving on the same date, producer Vashu Bhagnani has taken the first step.
He has willfully decided to bring his Ashish R. Mohan directed film a week ahead.
It would be a Thursday release though and the film would hit the screens on 28th May. This would give Tanu Weds Manu Returns a solo box office space on 22nd May.
“Vashu Bhagnani is the last person to engage in battle of clashes. He is a businessman and values money.
He understands that a clash never helps either of the two films in 90% of the cases,” informs our source, “Instead of making any last minute decision, he took this step a fortnight in advance.
That helps the marketing and promotion plans as well and results in a win-win situation for all. Why to get any bad blood when he has been in the industry for over a couple of decades and knows how it functions?”
With everything done amicably, his comic affair with Arshad Warsi and Jackky Bhagnani now has another week to keep the buzz on for its promotion.
On the other hand, Eros would continue with their big plans for the Madhavan and Kangna starrer that is directed by Aanand L Rai.
“Yes, we are arriving a week later now and it doesn’t make much of a difference as Welcome 2 Karachi is still a solo release,” says Vashu Bhagnani on being contacted, “When we have such a fantastic response on the promo, then we can comfortably sustain our marketing for a week more.
Also, our songs are catching up well too. ‘Lalla Lalla Lori’ is fast becoming popular with the youth. By the time the film releases on 28th May, I am sure it would be amongst the top chartbusters. It is a win-win situation for all.”
