Media should not be doing police’s work
The Pakistani media unfortunately has become used to covering tragedy due to the high rate of such events in the country. But it seems it still has a lot to learn when covering such events.
When someone is murdered – especially someone so famous as Amjad Sabri – their family especially children and friends should not be shown on media, this could put them in danger. Our media is constantly showing the family and children of Amjad Sabri putting them in danger.
Any eye-witnesses should be in police’s protective custody not allowed to roam around or be accessible to the media.
But as usual such things don’t matter to the media here. After the murder of Amjad Sabri, one channel not only showed the eye-witness of this killing but he was on TV in the channel’s studio giving his statement http://bit.ly/28XqzA9.
This reveals the lax attitude of the police who have overlooked such a key eyewitness. By showing the ID of the eye-witness of such a high-profile murder the media is not only putting the person in danger but also interfering with police investigation.
But we cannot blame the media for this, the police should be more vigilant and do its work properly and not leave room for others to do their work and expose their inefficiency.
