KARACHI: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader Abdul Qadir Patel surrendered to police at Boat Basin police station in Karachi on Tuesday.

The move comes an hour after a non-bailable arrest warrant issued for him by anti-terrorism court after he escaped from the court premises.

The ATC had rejected the bail applications of Patel, Muttahida Qaumi Movement leaders Rauf Siddiqui and Waseem Akhtar, and Pak Sarzameen Party (PSP) leader Anees Qaimkhani in a case against Dr. Asim for providing shelter to terrorists in his medical facility.

Siddiqui, Akhtar and Qaimkhani were arrested after their bail applications were rejected.

Dr Asim Hussain has been booked in several FIRs for allegedly treating and harbouring terrorists, gangsters and activists of banned militant outifits at the North Nazimabad and Clifton branches of his hospital at the behest of political leaders.

He has also been indicted in a local accountability court for Rs.460bn corruption.
