KARACHI: Prominent religious scholar Mufti Muneeb-ur-Rehman has expressed his reservation to government ‘for specifically targeting religious seminaries (madaris) in the ongoing operation’.
Addressing a press conference here, Muneeb said government doesn’t do what it is supposed to do. “The country is already facing chaos and it is in no position to brave further crisis,” he warned.
“Has terrorism completely been rooted out from the country,” he asked.
The scholar said hate speeches should be banned. He said singling out seminaries for action is a biased approach.
“It would be better if war on terrorism should be taken to its logical end.”
Mufti Muneeb also took exception to the bill presented in the Sindh Assembly seeking to regulate Friday sermons.
