LAHORE: The Lahore High Court’s (LHC) ban on Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain’s broadcast of speeches and statements on Monday has been challenged in the Supreme Court (SC) of Pakistan.

The appeal has been filed by Hussain’s counsel Asma Jahangir. The plea states that LHC’s order is unjust and unreasonable as the verdict was given without hearing the counsels. The petition also states that the verdict came on a non-maintainable plea.

The petition further states that the ban on broadcast of speeches and pictures is against Article 19.
