LONDON: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief on Saturday announced that he will not quit party leadership “till last breath” no matter how grave the circumstances are, and how ‘negligent’ his party workers are.
Addressing a gathering of workers in United States’ city Huston via telephone from London, Altaf Hussain said that a ‘storm of allegations and propaganda’ against MQM is carried out based on his one statement.
Altaf added talks of registering cases against him are going on and TV channels have been issued notices not to air his statements.
MQM chief insisted he neither maligned army nor asked for help from Indian intelligence agency RAW. “Even then I apologized to the people and state institutions”, he said. “And if they still want to register case against me under Article 6 or ban MQM then they can be my guest”.
Altaf Hussain said that various leaders expressed inappropriate views against the army but no action was taken against them, adding that a liberal party like MQM is being termed traitor.
MQM chief said attempts to suppress the party are being made at all levels but their spirits will not be deterred.
