APC to discuss census, issues of Sindh concludes in Karachi

KARACHI: The All Parties Conference to discuss census and issues of Sindh concluded in Karachi with passing of a joint declaration.

The declaration says the issue of census will be taken up in the meeting of Council of Common Interest.

The declaration demanded that all provinces be given equal representation in the census committee and in the Statistics Department.

Leader of MQM Kunwar Naveed Jameel, while addressing the All Parties Conference in Karachai has criticized Pakistan Peoples Party for not conducting census during its five year tenure.

He said despite the fact that seventy-five percent of work for the census was complete, but even then it failed to carry this national obligation.

Speaking on the occasion, Opposition Leader in Sindh Assembly Khwaja Izhar-ul-Hassan suggested security agencies also be involved in the census process to provide security and ensure transparency.

Leader of PML-F Syed Muzaffar Hussain Shah said transparent census is necessary as the ratio of population will decide about the distribution of resources and jobs quota as well.

Qadir Magsi of Sindh Taraqqi Pasand Party, Ayaz Latif Palijo of Awami Tehreek and representatives of other political parties also spoke on the occasion and presented their suggestions regarding conduct of census.

The conference was attended by almost all national political and regional parties of PPP, PML(N), PTI, JUI(F), JUP, Jiye Sindh Qaumi Mahaaz and Nizam-e-Mustafa party.
