KARACHI: Aseefa Bhutto Zardari on Friday visited the residence of Flying Officer Marium Mukhtar, first Pakistani female pilot who embraced martyrdom, in Malir Cantt and offered condolences to her family.
Aseefa Bhutto offered Fateha for the martyred pilot and paid glowing tributes to her, who was martyred due to a jet crash during a training mission near Mianwali on November 24.
Aseefa said that Marium raised the heads high of the entire Pakistani nation especially the women.
“Flying Officer Marium Mukhtar has become an inspiration for all Pakistani women and girls,” she said while praising the family for exemplary upbringing of their daughter. “I salute Marium.”
Aseefa further said that it was the mission of her late mother Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto to see Pakistani women play their role for the prosperity, development and defense of the country, alongside men.
The family of Marium Mukhtar requested Aseefa Bhutto Zardari to name a school after their martyred daughter, to which the latter agreed to make efforts for.
Deputy Speaker Sindh Assembly, Shehla Raza also accompanied Aseefa Bhutto Zardari on the occasion.
Yesterday, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari also held a telephonic conversation with Mukhtar Ahmed Sheikh, father of Marium Mukhtar.
He praised the valor of the martyred pilot and extended his heartfelt sympathies to the family.
