KARACHI: Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) on Tuesday extended physical remand of former petroleum minister and Sindh Higher Education Commission Chairman Dr Asim Hussain and accepted bail plea of Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s (MQM) mayoral candidate for Karachi, Waseem Akhtar in terror facilitation case.
On Monday Anti-terrorism court (ATC) has issued non-bailable arrest warrants of MQM leader Waseem Akhtar, Anees Qaimkhani and Pakistan People’s Party’s (PPP) Abdul Qadir Patel among other ‘fugitives’ in Dr Asim Hussain’s case.
Dr Asim was shifted to the ATC amid tight security.
The terror accused stated before the court that he is not being provided with necessary facilities.
Dr Asim is also facing a corruption case filed by National Accountability Bureau (NAB). On January 18, he was remanded in NAB’s custody by the accountability court for 10 days.
During the hearing, investigation officer had told the court that the alleged corrupt person and Chairman of Sindh Higher Education Commission (HEC) had offered to return pieces of land acquired illegally.
