ISLAMABAD: Special Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) on Tuesday issued non-bailable arrest warrants of former president Pervez Musharraf and ordered Director General (DG) Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to take action against Musharraf after the issuance of the arrest warrants.

The court dismissed Musharraf’s plea of not showing up for the hearing of the case for fourteen weeks based on his medical condition. However, Musharraf needs to appear before the court himself on May 11 for the ongoing treason case’s next hearing if he wants to avoid prosecution.

The court directed Secretary Interior Ministry to appear before the court along with written explanation in regards to the permission granted to the former president to leave the country.

ATC ceased the surety bonds submitted by Musharraf’s guarantor, Rashid Qureshi, and ordered him to submit a sum of Rs 25 lakhs as security deposit.
