ATC rejects bail pleas of MQM and PSP leaders

KARACHI: Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) Wednesday rejected the bail pleas filed by Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s Rauf Siddiqui and Pak Sarzameen Party (PSP) leader Anees Qaimkhani in a case against former petroleum minister Dr Asim Hussain.
The ATC heard the case in which Dr Asim is accused of providing shelter and medical aid to criminals and terrorists in his private hospital.

Karachi Mayor-designate Waseem Siddiqui, Rauf Siddiqui, Anees Qaimkhani and PPP’s Qadir Patel are accused of asking Dr Asim to provide medical treatment to “political militants”, Lyari gangsters after they sustained wounds in shootouts with police and Rangers.

The court ruled that there are evidences against the accused, therefore, it could not grant bail to them.

The MQM, PPP and PSP leaders were arrested last month after their bail pleas in the case were rejected by the ATC.
