ISLAMABAD: Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq on Wednesday telephoned Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) London-based leader, Altaf Hussain, and discussed resolution against Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) lawmakers.
MQM and Jamiat Ulma e Islam-Fazl have tabled two separate resolutions in the National Assembly seeking de-seating of 28 PTI MNAs, including Imran Khan.
However, the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz and Pakistan Peoples Party have refused to support the motions.
According to sources, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq appealed Altaf Hussain to withdraw his party’s resolutions.
The conversation between the Speaker and MQM chief lasted for about ten minutes, sources said.
Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, while addressing the National Assembly, announced that his ruling party would not support the resolutions.
The PM appealed the two parties to withdraw their motions to avoid any political confrontation
