ISLAMABAD: Comprehensive challan in Dr Imran Farooq murder case has been filed in the court.
According to the challan, Mohsin Ali Syed has been declared the key culprit while Khalid Shamim and Moazzam Ali planned the murder. The interim challan nominates Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s (MQM) chief, Altaf Hussain, Muhammad Anwar and Iftikhar Hussain.
On January 8 it was reported that Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) would seek arrest warrants of Altaf Hussain, Iftikhar Hussain and Muhammad Anwar in the case.
The development had come in a day after startling revelations were made by Khalid Shamim.
According to the FIA sources, the arrest warrants would be sent to London through Interpol.
The MQM leaders have been nominated in the First Information Report (FIA) filed in Pakistan.
Earlier on December 31, Shamim and Mohsin Ali had confessed to the crime in front of the judicial magistrate.
Shamim admitted that a key MQM personality wanted to get Farooq out of his way. He said that the directives to assassinate Farooq came from London.
He further admitted that Kashif attacked the victim with a knife.
Farooq, 50, a founding member of MQM was stabbed to death in Edgware, northwest London in September 2010.
He claimed asylum in Britain in 1999 and was wanted in Pakistan over different charges including torture and murder but always claimed the accusations were politically motivated.
He had twice been elected an MP in Pakistan, but went into hiding in 1992 when the government ordered a military crackdown against party activists in Karachi.
