ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, while addressing a press conference in the federal capital, said the government needs solid evidence to form judicial commission against any political party.
Nisar said that a committee has been constituted to probe the claims levelled against the political party and “we have advertised in media that if anyone holds any information and evidence regarding the MQM’s alleged links with RAW or the money laundering allegations, then he should come forward”.
“These are some serious allegations and can only be prosecuted through courts after proper evidence is submitted before them,” said the interior minister.
Though media is helping judiciary and law enforcement agencies but some people exaggerate things a lot during talk-shows, he complained.
These analysts are arguing that investigations against Axact were initiated the very next day but Sarfraz Merchant and Mustafa Kamal’s allegations were ignored, he said.
“Can we make a JIT on some analyst’s wishes? Judiciary and law enforcement agencies do not work that way.”
Nisar said his relations with MQM are not considered to be very good but those who criticise the government for its ‘inaction’ must also question the former governments who shared power with MQM.
It was the incumbent government which reopened the Imran Farooq murder case, money laundering case and shared intelligence with British government, said the interior minister.
