KARACHI: Customs Authorities on Thursday seized 22,000 kilogram explosive material from a shipping container at Karachi Port.
According to Director Customs Intelligence, the raid was conducted on a tip of regarding the presence of the huge cache of explosive material in a container which was imported from China by a Rawalpindi-based company.
The importer had not applied for the exemption and custom clearance of the container, which was apparently imported in November last year.
The Custom Intelligence said they have launched an investigation into the matter after seizing the container.
Last year, the Customs authorities had conducted raids in Peshawar that led to seizure of two containers full of explosive material in Peshawar.
