Earthquake tremors felt in Northern Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: Strong tremors were felt across Islamabad and parts of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) on Saturday.

The quake hit many areas, including Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Peshawar, Malakand and Hazara among others. The quake measured 5.5 on the Richter scale, while its epicenter was the Hindu Kush, according to the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) K-P.

Following tremors, many evacuated their homes and buildings amid fears of further shocks. No loss of life or damage to property has been reported thus far.

In August, Earthquake tremors jolted parts of China and Pakistan. Tremors were felt in Islamabad and adjoining areas.

According to the Met Department, the earthquake measured 5.1 on the Richter scale and while the focal depth was 10 kilometres, its epicenter was China’s Sichuan area.
