ISLAMABAD: President Mamnoon Hussain has said every citizen of Pakistan has equal rights.

Addressing a Christmas a ceremony in Islamabad on Monday, he said the government will leave no stone unturned in protection of minorities’ rights.

The President said the government has taken landmark steps for the welfare of minorities, which include increasing seats in the parliament, allocation of five percent quota in jobs, and establishment of national commission for minorities.

He said Pakistan is a home of every citizen, irrespective of caste, creed, faith, or religion.

Mamnoon Hussain said some misguided elements attempted to harm the interfaith harmony in the country, which was foiled with the joint efforts of the people and the law enforcement agencies.

The President commended minorities’ role in development, defence, economic, social, education, and health sectors for the development of Pakistan.

He congratulated the Christian community on the eve of Christmas.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Federal Ministers, members of Parliament and other important personalities attended the ceremony.
