ISLAMABAD: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Fazl (JUI-F) chief on Thursday held telephonic conversation with Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader Farooq Sattar and briefed him over his yesterday’s meeting with Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in Islamabad.
Fazlur Rehman told Sattar that he has presented MQM’s demands to the premier.
He said the Prime Minister has expressed hope that MQM MPs will return to the assemblies soon. First round of talks was stalled following attack on senior MQM leader Rashid Godil in Karachi. The second phase of talks will now resume on Saturday.
The JUI-F chief is playing the role of mediator to convince MQM lawmakers to withdraw their resignations. Last week, the MQM parliamentarians had submitted their resignations in the National Assembly and Sindh Assembly in protest against alleged victimization of party workers.
