LAHORE: At least five terrorists were killed in an armed encounter with police personnel in Lahore area of Nawab Town in Wednesday’s wee hours. Firearms were also recovered from the culprits.
Acting on a tip-off regarding the presence of terrorists in the area, police launched the raid in Raiwind Road area and an intense exchange of gunfire with the saboteurs ensued that lasted for over a couple of hours.
Police claimed that the terrorists may be involved in Sunday’s blast in Gulshan Park, Lahore as maps of Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Racecourse, Bagh-e-Jinnah and Sambrial were recovered from their possession.
Hand grenades, two Kalashnikovs and 3 pistols were also seized from the terrorists.
A terrorist is said to have fled following the armed encounter.
