Former SSP Rao Anwar escapes grenade attack

KARACHI: Senior police officer Rao Anwar narrowly escaped an attempt on his life in Karachi on Saturday.

According to sources, unknown miscreants armed with grenades attacked the convoy of SSP Rao Anwar on Link Road near Steel Town.

Police teams opened retaliatory fire, forcing the assailants to flee.

Rao Anwar said that he was safe. Rao added that attackers were riding a car.

Heavy contingent of police reached the scene and launched a search operation.

The latest attack comes a day after DSP Abdul Fateh was killed in a similar gun attack in Gulshan-e-Hadeed.
