ISLAMABAD: Former prime minister (PM) Raja Pervaiz Ashraf on Friday has said that the government should not hinder accountability processes with double standards.

He expressed these views while talking to the media outside court after hearing of rental power case.

The former PM appeared before the accountability court (AC) in Turkish rental power project case. He said that the ruling party offers audit for cases against self but demands apprehension of minister in cases involving other parties.

At least 11 alleged criminals appeared before the court in the corruption case. The AC issued arrest warrant of Private Power and Infrastructure Board’s (PPIB) former managing director (MD) Fayyaz Ilahi for not presenting himself before the court. Ashraf described the ongoing political scenario of the country as allegation-based politics. He would not defend the case before the media but in court, he added.

Federal capital’s AC judge Nisar Baig held hearing of Sumandri and Nowdero rental power case. The court adjourned the hearing until October 20. The next hearing will see process of indictment on all 12 alleged corrupt persons.
