KARACHI: Sindh Minister for Local Government, Jam Khan Shoro on Tuesday claimed that sewerage lines were choked in Karachi by gunny bags that resulted in overflowing of filthy water on the main roads of metropolis.
Talking to media here, the provincial minister said the authorities have found evidences that gunny bags were dropped in several gutter lines in different areas to create artificial overflowing of sewerage waters on roads.
His remarks came amid the mysterious and sudden municipal mess in the city ahead of mayor’s election, with political parties demanding more powers for the key municipal slot.
The minister said Managing Director of Karachi Water and Sewerage Board has been directed to hold an inquiry to ascertain as to who dropped the gunny bags.
Shoro vowed to bring findings of the probe on media, claiming “a conspiracy is being hatched against Karachi and the Sindh government”.
