KARACHI: Inspector General of Sindh police AD Khawaja removed another senior police officer after arrest of senior Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader Khawaja Izharul Hassan on Friday.
The IG police sacked the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) East Dr Kamran Fazal and sent his case back to Federal government for future posting.
The move comes shortly after Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah directed the IG Sindh to suspend SSP Malir Rao Anwar, who led the police team that raided Khawaja Izhar’s residence, without taking prior permission from speaker of the Sindh Assembly.
The Sindh CM also ordered release of Khawaja Izhar.
However, The IG Sindh said that the MQM leader could only be released after completing legal formalities.
Earlier, Rao Anwar-led police party arrived at the residence of Khawaja Izhar, who is also an opposition leader in the Sindh Assembly, and arrested him.
