ISLAMABAD: Islamabad High Court (IHC) resume the Prime Minister’s (PM) Kissan package of Rs341 billion on Thursday.
Government of Pakistan filed the plea against the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on the advise of PM Nawaz Sharif.
Earlier, ECP halted PM’s Kissan package announced by the Nawaz Sharif ahead of local government elections in Sindh and Punjab.
The secretary ECP said the package was a violation of the code of conduct of the commission as it was announced at a time that could heavily influence voters.
PM Nawaz announced the Kisan package during Kisan Convention in Islamabad, the PM unveiled the package which provides subsidy to farmers on fertilizers and pesticides and supporting them in different fields of agriculture sector following slump in commodity prices.
“The package is part of government’s efforts to ensure growth in all sectors of economy and it is expected to ensure stability in prices of agriculture products,” the PM said.
“Farmers of rice & cotton will be given Rs 5000 cash per Acre,” said PM.
He further announced that government has bought Rs 101 Billion’s property for Bhasha Dam.
