LAHORE: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Thursday accused Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif of having assets worth Rs200 billion abroad.
Addressing a press conference he claimed that Sharif would not reveal his actual assets which he had hidden in foreign countries.
The former cricket hero went on to say that Finance Minister Ishaq Dar has also stashed billions of rupees in Dubai. Khan said that Sharif and his ministers will never reveal their assets.
“Everybody is allowed to hold me accountable; I have got no assets abroad. Can anybody dare to ask Nawaz Sharif how much money he has got in foreign banks,” Khan added.
Khan said that in new Pakistan there would be real democracy and accountability and thieves would be sent to jails instead of assemblies. The PTI chairman said that his party would run on merit and workers who have been doing handwork would come to upper echelons.
On Wednesday, Khan kicked off his party’s election campaign for by-elections in NA-122 scheduled on October 11. By-polls are being held after National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq, who won from NA-122 in May 2013 elections, was de-seated by the Election Tribunal in August.
