Infant dies from teargas in Rawalpindi


RAWALPINDI: Newborn boy who allegedly died due to teargas shelling has on Friday been buried. The MS of Benazir Bhutto Hospital, however, said that he couldn’t say anything about the cause of death without postmortem.


The newborn boy, aged four days only, of Gordon College Colony of Liaquat Bagh died in Benazir Bhutto Hospital today. The parents said that the police had fired teargas shells on Awami Muslim League (AML) and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) workers and the smoke made its way into the houses as well. They said that the baby wasn’t able to bear the smoke and her situation deteriorated due to suffocation.

The parents told that they took the baby to Benazir Bhutto Hospital but he died on the way. He was buried in Shah Ki Taalian graveyard after the Isha prayer.
