ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Jahangir Khan Tareen announced that he would play no further part in the intraparty election (IPE).
“I was never and am not now interested in any party position. I will continue to serve PTI as a worker and strive for party’s unity,” Tareen said in a statement.
“Imran Khan has called for a final showdown with the Sharif’s. It is of utmost importance that the whole party stands united. In the spirit of unity and keeping the Party cause supreme, I vave decided that I will play no further part in the elections,”
He said that he was never interested in any party position.
“I was never and am not now interested in any party position. I will continue to serve PTI as a worker and strive for Party Unity,” he said.
He said that he burnt his boats and joined PTI to follow Imran Khan’s ideology.
“I cannot stand by and watch PTI divided and especially at this critical juncture. I call upon the entire party hierarchy to play their role in uniting PTI. We need to focus our energies on exposing the Sharifs,” he added.
The statement comes a day after PTI leader Shah Mahmood Qurershi lambasted Chaudhry Sarwar and Jahangir Khan Tarin.
“I will try to quit politics the day I have to take ticket from people like Jahangir Khan Tareen and Chaudhry Sarwar,” he said.
