ISLAMABAD: Justice (retd) Wajihuddin on Tuesday dissolved election tribunal that he was heading to probe irregularities within party after issues with party chief Imran Khan were resolved.
Justice (retd) also said in the decision that the tribunal will be restored if the need be.
Reportedly, Khan had dissolved the tribunal after it presented its recommendations to deal with irregularities within the party but the tribunal had continued working under supervision of Justice (retd) Wajihuddin.
According to details, Imran Khan had expressed anger over recommendations issued by the election tribunal over irregularities within party and had issued show cause notices to give at least five members of the tribunals. Those members requested Khan to hear them in a private hearing which was accepted.
PTI chief had restored those five members on their previous positions after hearing them on July 11.
Justice (retd) Wajihuddin has himself suspended the tribunal now; however, he defended all decisions and recommendations made by the tribunal and expressed regret that those recommendations and decisions were not followed in spirit.
