ISLAMABAD: Qamar Zaman Kaira, Pakistan People’s Party secretary information on Wednesday said the core committee meeting led by Bilawal Bhutto Zardari decided reorganization of the party.
“All provincial and district committees have been dissolved, while interim committees have been formed which will oversee all the party matters till reorganization of the party,” Kaira said while talking to media following the PPP’s core committee meeting.
The meeting also constituted legal and parliamentary committees over the issue of Panama leaks, he said, adding that the PPP is taking the issue very seriously.
“The legal committee would give legal advices to the party chairman, while the parliamentary committee would devise a mutual strategy in consultations with the opposition parties over Panama Papers,” the secretary information said.
Earlier, Bilawal-led PPP’s core committee decided not to join Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) march to Raiwind in a bid to press the government to form a high-powered inquiry commission over Panama leaks.
According to sources, the decision was taken in a meeting of PPP Core Committee headed by the party’s Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari.
Khurshid Shah and Senator Aitezaz Ahsan, opposition leaders in the National Assembly and the Senate respectively, briefed the meeting over Panama Papers’ disclosures.
The PPP core committee decided to formulate issue-to-issue strategy in consultation with PTI in the Parliament, the sources said.
