Kamalia: Five killed in police, criminal shootout

TOBA TEK SINGH: At least five people have been killed including three children in an ongoing gun-battle between police and heavily-armed terrorists holed up inside a house in Kamalia.

Police officials said they raided the house in Pir Mahal Housing colony of Kamalia around 1:00 PM in search of wanted criminals. The terrorists retaliated and opened fire on the raiding police party.

The heavily-armed terrorists also attacked policemen with hand grenades, said Deputy Superintendent of Police Rana Khalid, adding that a man, woman and two children appeared to be still inside the house.

The number of terrorists was unclear, and police officials declined to give any further information.

Police had surrounded the house and the operation was still underway at the time of filing of this report.
