KARACHI: A senior police official has barely survived a deadly armed ambush in the crime-torn city of 20 million — facing a sudden surge in gun-related violence.
“Shooters targeted Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Sharfabad, Sohail Abbas, when he was on a routine patrol. He was injured but not fatally”.
After defying death, a battle-hardened DSP Abbas did not mind driving himself to the nearest hospital, where he is said to be doing fine.
There was no word on the suspected affiliations, identities, or the motive of the gunmen.
Analysts, however, say it could be a sectarian attack.
A day earlier at least six people including two media personalities, three men, and a minor boy were killed.
